On this day (January 11) in the year 1847, the following advertisement appeared in "The Untied States Gazette" (Philadelphia) Vol. 65, No. 15,904 (January 11, 1847): - - - - - - - - Collins's Daguerrian Lounge and Picture Gallery, (Occupying the whole of the upper part of the new 5 story building, No 100 Chestnut st, 2 doors above 3d) THE subscribers are happy to inform the public that their new arrangement of the SKY LIGHT is ex- citing universal attention, and meeting the general ap- probation, and as their continued increase of business ap- pear to warrant the project, they contemplate introduc- ting another Light after the same principle, in order the better to accommodate their numerous patrons. The Picture Gallery, occupying the first hall, is over 70 feet in length, and is open daily from 8 AM till 5 PM. All who feel any interest in the advancement of this won- derful art are invited to pay it a visit. T. P. & D. C.
