THE DAGUERREOTYPE: AN ARCHIVE OF SOURCE TEXTS, GRAPHICS, AND EPHEMERA

The research archive of Gary W. Ewer regarding the history of the daguerreotype

On this day (June 14) in the year 1841, the following advertisement appeared in the "Boston Daily Evening Transcript": - - - - - - - P H O T O G R A P H I C I N S T I T U T E . MR. PLUMBE, professor of Photography, has the honor to an- nounce to the admirers of Nature's Pencilings, that a late arrival from Paris now enables him to exhibit specimens of the art pro- duced by M. Daguerre's last very important improvement, which would seem to the ne plus ultra of perfection, and render idle all further attempts at the attainment of any greater degree of excellence in Photographic Portraiture. Miniatures taken and Apparatus and Instructions furnished, upon M. Daguerre's new plan. Plates, Miniature Cases, and every other article of Photography, always on hand. isSt j14 -------------------------------------------------------------- 07-14-99
