On this day (September 22) the following notices, both regarding Whipple, appeared their respective issues of "The Boston Daily Evening Transcript": - - - - - - - In the September 22, 1847 edition: DO NOT LONGER NEGLECT obtaining DAGUERREOTYPES OF YOUR CHILDREN; however young or restless they may be, they can be taken at WHIPPLE'S, 96 Washington street, of a clear day, between the hours of 11 and 5, to your perfect satisfac- tion. asM W&Slm sept 22 * * * * * In the September 22, 1851 edition: DAGUERREOTYPES OF THE PRESIDENT. Mr Whipple took some fine daguerreotypes of the President while he was in this city. They are among the best specimens of the art that we have seen. Persons desiring copies can pro- cure them of Mr Whipple. (Note: The President mentioned would have been Millard Fillmore (1800- 1874), who became president on the death of Zachary Taylor in 1850.) -------------------------------------------------------------- 09-22-99
