Two items today... On this day (October 30) in the year 1856, the following notice appeared in the "Waltham Sentinel" (Mass.): - - - - - - - - - - OUR NEXT PRESIDENT.--The great question of who will be President, will be decided on Tuesday next, and we would advise men of all parties to go to Perry's and be daguerreotyped before that time; as after that, there may be such a change in the countenances of some, that their most intimate friends will scarcely recognize them. Mr. Perry is so well known, further comment is unnecessary. P.S.--We hope the result of the election will not cause a frown upon the countenance of Mr. P. - - - - - - - - - - and in the year 1842, the following advertisement appeared in "The New York Herald" (Vol. VIII., No. 300): - - - - - - - - - - - DAGUERREOTYPE. TO THE PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTISTS. V. A. ARTAULT & CO., 163 1/2 Fulton street, opposite St. Paul's Church, respectfully inform their friends and the public, that they have just received by packet ship Argo, an in- voice of 1000 Daguerreotype French Plate A new supply of the best and newest patterns apparatus 100 ounces bromine 50 ounces of iodine 50 pounds hyposulphate of soda 50 grammes of chloride of gold 100 pounds of tripoli of veinse 50 ounces chloride of iodine And the new book containing the latest improvements in the Daguerreotype 051m*t ----------------------------------------------------------------- 10-30-96
