THE DAGUERREOTYPE: AN ARCHIVE OF SOURCE TEXTS, GRAPHICS, AND EPHEMERA

The research archive of Gary W. Ewer regarding the history of the daguerreotype

Dear readers, I wish all of you the best for the holiday season! I've been unusually quiet, a situation which I hope to remedy with the start of the New Year. I have, however, placed a "gift" for you on the web today at this URL: http://www.ieway.com/gary/holiday/holiday98a.html It is the tale found as Chapter 20 of "The Widow Bedott Papers." This text, authored by American humorist Frances Miriam Whitcher, was part of a series that appeared in 1846 in "[Neal's] Saturday Gazette and Literary Museum" and was later collected into book form in 1856. The humorous tale, too long to present in DagNews/e-mail form, is offered exclusively to you, dear readers of DagNews, this holiday season. For your convenience, I've made it available in five various formats. If any of you do not have access to the web and would like to me send it as an e-mail attachment, please drop me a short note and I'll be happy to forward it directly to you. Please do let me know whether you use a PC or a Mac, as well as the word processing program you use. Best to you all! Gary W. Ewer 12-23-98
